- Ian Noble
I have had a successful 20+ year career in IT due to a continual desire to learn, change and grow.
After attending the University of Aberdeen, my career began as a software developer for a fast growing Scottish Oil and Gas company. This position allowed me to obtain a deep understanding of the underlying mechanics of Microsoft Windows, which continues to enhance my troubleshooting skills.
After 4 years in software development, I began to take a larger role in big picture infrastructure projects within the company. I oversaw the migration from mainframes and green screens to PCs, Laptops, Thin Clients and Windows Servers.
At this time, the company was one of the fastest growing by revenue in Scotland with plans to expand internationally. My contributions helped position the technology infrastructure for continued growth and expansion on a global level. Other highlights of my career include the IT infrastructure for a new build HQ move, applying DevOps practices, virtualising systems & delivering a disaster recovery solution for the company.
I currently lead an infrastructure team in a £75m turnover global organisation with over 500 staff members.
In 2015, 2016 & 2017 I was recognised as a VMware vExpert, a select group of 1,300 global IT professionals for recognition of contribution, participation & influence with the global IT community.
